Aren’t online casino games just incredibly peaceful? Sure, they can be stressful, especially when you’ve just split eights four times, finding yourself with the good fortune of receiving twos and threes on each eight…and you’re facing a dealer’s 6 with $1,600 on the table. But overall, no matter how much of an adrenaline rush you might experience, rarely is playing at home at places like Silver Oak Casino ever dangerous.
The same can’t be said for playing live. Today, we’ve got big stories from the week that’ll have you think twice about playing at a live casino.
Elderly woman assaulted outside casino
If you need a reminder to exercise caution when you leave a casino, particularly at night, just read the news. There are lots of stories about casino players falling victim to criminal activity and one such case occurred on Wednesday night. At around 10pm in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, an elderly woman was walking through the parking lot of Casino Calgary when she was hit from behind. Police are searching for two suspects who quickly grabbed her purse and took off.
We can’t stress this enough. If you leave a casino, regardless of whether you’ve won money or not, don’t leave the property alone. Even if you can see your vehicle when you exit the casino doors, always walk to your car in a group. If you’ve been gambling alone, ask security to escort you. They’re paid to keep people safe and they won’t turn you down.
Couple leaves kids in cold van to gamble
You should never leave children alone in vehicle. Ever. And especially not to gamble. But that doesn’t stop some casino players. A couple out of Toronto is staring child abandonment charges in the face after leaving a 3-year-old and 5-year-old alone in a cold van at Great Blue Hero Casino in Scugog, Ontario on Tuesday.
Making matters worse was the fact that temperatures were below zero degrees Celsius, which is 32 Fahrenheit. Needless to say, the children’s 35-year-old mother and her 58-year-old husband were arrested at the scene and the children were taken into protective custody.
NFL player assaults cop at casino
In keeping with our commitment to bringing you bizarre casino stories, here’s another one. Former Dallas Cowboys running back Joseph Randle has found himself experiencing the ultimate penalty after he was arrested for assaulting a police officer outside a Kansas casino earlier this week.
He’s facing several charges, including felony criminal threats, misdemeanor assault of a law enforcement officer, interference with a law enforcement officer, battery, disorderly conduct, and criminal trespass. Not good charges at all, and he was held on $25,000 bail (which he posted). This isn’t the first time Randle found himself in trouble with the law. He’s currently on probation in Texas for shoplifting underwear and cologne from a department store.
