Trying to decide between Europe and the Caribbean for your honeymoon? If you love gambling, you might want to throw Las Vegas on your list. Actually, scratch that. We’re going to assume that most diehard casino players will put Vegas at the top of their go-to honeymoon destinations anyway. But Vegas goes way beyond anteing up, doubling down, and spinning for riches.
If gambling isn’t your scene at all, you might still love Las Vegas, especially for your honeymoon. As a newlywed myself, I’ve put together a list of reasons why Vegas is so popular with honeymooners. Check them out before handing over $5,000 to your travel agent for somewhere mediocre.
Breathtaking honeymoon suites
When it comes to treating honeymooners like royalty, no one does it better than Las Vegas. And you don’t have to spend a ton to score an amazing room. Honeymoon suites are fairly affordable in Las Vegas, no matter where you stay. And because there are so many 5-star hotels to stay at (and because Vegas caters to weddings and honeymoons) there are no shortage of rooms. Many hotels will also treat you to champagne, comps, and extra goodies when they find out that you just got hitched, so take advantage.
Restaurants, restaurants, and more restaurants
I can’t think of a better city in the United States for dining. Name one high-end celebrity chef who doesn’t have a restaurant in Las Vegas and I’ll argue that they aren’t much of a celebrity chef. Gordon Ramsey has multiple Las Vegas properties. So does Wolfgang Puck. And Guy Fieri has taken Sin City by storm. Pretty much any chef you can think of turns to Vegas to open their next big venture. And let’s face it. Honeymooners love to eat. Brides and grooms work hard before their wedding to make sure they look great in wedding photos, but the honeymoon is prime opportunity to indulge.
Pampering opportunities galore
I’m going to level with you. Up until my honeymoon, I’d never been to a spa. No massage. No weird mud facemask thing. No bath salts. My spa experience was limited to accidentally using my girlfriend’s peach body soap in the shower. And then I got married. On our honeymoon, we decided to spend the cash and go for a couple’s massage. It was phenomenal. And if you’re going to get a massage, Vegas has no shortage of options. Personally, I love Canyon Ranch Spa Club at The Venetian, but The Spa at Encore is fantastic too. You’re pretty much guaranteed a fabulous time wherever you.
Soak up the sun in style
After the hustle and bustle of a wedding, not to mention a long flight from who knows where, the last thing you want to do is run through a busy city feeling stressed. Which is why Vegas is home to some incredible hotel pools. Some overlook the strip. Some feel secluded. Mandalay Bay, for example, offers a simulated beach so you don’t even feel like you’re in the middle of the desert. You can also rent your own cabana for the day and receive VIP treatment from servers who will treat you like royalty.
Of course, if you’ve already booked your honeymoon to somewhere different, don’t sweat it. Just bring your laptop along and bring the casino experience with you by logging in to your Silver Oak Casino account.
