As Halloween draws closer and closer, that peculiar urge for a good, genuine scare begins to tickle people’s curiosity and impulses. Sure, the traditional “haunted houses” and more visited locations can be entertaining, but sometimes these places do not bring you the real, bone-chilling, skin-crawling feeling some might desire. So, for those who want to face an authentic, legitimate ghost, or so goes the word about the town, you can visit one of these haunted places. People have corroborated the tales with sightings and stories, but it’s up to you to believe them. If the old-wives tales are true, then you are sure to be something not of this world.

Dell H. Robison Middle School – 825 Marion Dr. Las Vegas, NV 89110

Various students that attend this school have made assertions that there is someone inhuman that roams the halls. They tell of a janitor that apparently used to work at this school. No one really knows the tale of the ghost of the janitor, but when he appears in the hallways, his hands are usually covered in blood. Rumors have it that the janitor also follows new students home after they have seen him, randomly appearing and disappearing along the way. The only way, supposedly, to remove the haunting is by attending church.
Fox Ridge Park – 420 Valle Verde Dr. Henderson, NV 89012

This is your typical picturesque park during the day. It is a nice place to sit and relax a while or to take your children to play. The night, however, brings out the uncanny nature of the park. As the rumors tell, the ghost of a young child is the most well-known of the various spirits that wander the park. Some say he walked out onto the street and was hit by a car; others say it was a drunk driver that took his innocent, premature life. He loves the swings. You can even swing next to him if you dare, but do not look at him or much less bother him. They say he will turn into a demon if you do and vanish. Unless you want to see that and risk the consequences, you probably should just leave him alone.

The Sandhill and Charleston Tunnels – Sandhill Rd. Las Vegas, NV 89110

It is said that the stretch of Sandhill Road between Sahara Ave. and Charleston Blvd. has some ghosts lurking below. There are flood tunnels beneath and supposedly you can hear voices of a man and a woman rumored to have been killed in the area. Also, there is ghost of an old lady, with seemingly no connection to the man and woman, sometimes chases drivers down the dirt roads of Sandhill and Sahara and disappears as soon as you leave her road.

Little Choo Choo Daycare – 3335 Wynn Rd. Las Vegas, NV 89101

This daycare is now closed and demolished; nonetheless, restless spirits are said to meander the area where it stood. The business terminated operations after the suicide of a teacher and the accidental death of a child at the daycare. It is said some spirits show up quickly and vanish; there has even been sightings of a small boy with a toy shovel digging in the dirt.

The Flamingo Hotel and Casino – 3555 S. Las Vegas Blvd. Las Vegas, NV 89109

This haunted hotel and casino has more history than the other haunted places. Benjamin “Bugsy’ Siegel, one of the most infamous mobsters to this day, during his life invested in the Flamingo Hotel and Casino. He and his partners ran their operations and later opened the establishment to the public. It still stands on the strip today. Siegel was gunned down in Beverly Hills, California and his enemies rapidly took over the property and business. Good ol’ Bugsy seems to have had a difficult time leave the premises.

So if you are in the Vegas area and you are feeling tough, check out one of these lovely places and test your true valor and beliefs. Happy Halloween!
